Sony was one of  de first companies to take the eBook reader into the mainstream. They have been in the market for five years now and have had a number of successful models. Unfortunately for them, however, brought high prices and lack of an internet that they lost much of its market to Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Sony are back and ready to compete with a new and improved Sony Reader, Wi-Fi faces, but they have done enough to impress clients?

Benefits of the Sony Reader, Wi-Fi

Touchscreen Technology: Sony was first to come out with a touchscreen eReader all those years ago, and has worked to ensure the best reading experience. Sony Reader, Wi-Fi uses the same touchscreen technology that can be found in Barnes & Noble Nook and Kobo Touch Edition, which makes it very responsive and a breeze to get around the device.

Sony Reader, Wi-Fi does not deviate from these devices, but it also has some physical buttons for those who want them. Although you can turn the page with a swipe of your finger, you can also control page turns using the buttons at the bottom of the screen. There's even a stylus option for those who prefer to operate the device and make notes on the way instead.

Design: Sony has given its last line of eBook readers a renewal with the Sony Reader, Wi-Fi, but it is still clear to see that this is a Sony product. The good news is that this reader is lighter than ever before (due to the fact that it is now plastic, not metal body used) and is lighter than any of the other big six "eReaders out there today the day. It also comes with a choice of black, pink or white for those who want the opportunity for a little personal eReader.

Internet: Fans of the Sony Reader will be pleased to see that they have included Wi-Fi on your device. This brings it into line with its main rivals: Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook. Included Wi-Fi means you can now access the Sony bookstore and download titles when you are connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The good news is that there is also an experimental web browser is included. Although there eReader browser can be used for browsing complex functions, it is useful to check the odd email or look something up on Wikipedia, and performs better than the Kindle's browser.

MicroSD Card Slot: With 2GB of internal memory there's plenty of storage space for your books. You fit around 1200 titles on the included memory, but you can take advantage of the microSD card slot to add up to an additional 32 GB. You do not need a computer to manage all your files, either deal with your book and music library directly on the device itself.

Battery: The battery on the Sony Reader, Wi-Fi is designed to last for 14,000 page displays, which corresponds to about a month before you have to charge it. Keep Wi-Fi turned on and you will run out very quickly, however. A month is definitely the standard for quality ebook readers, not though not quite match up to the Kindle Touch and Nook Touch.

Audio: Unlike The Nook, Sony Reader allows Wi-Fi you play your MP3 and AAC audio files directly on the device. You must be purchased separately headphones, though.

Library Functions: Due to the fact that the Sony Reader, Wi-Fi uses ePub ebooks, you can easily borrow books from your local library. The browser comes with a special icon to access this feature simple, but you must be a member of a local library that offers this service.

If you can not take advantage of the library of downloads so the good news is that you can access a range of free e-books through Google Books portion of Sony's book store, straight from the device.
